Spaces to rebuild and bounce back.

Through accommodation, support, and solidarity initiatives, we provide everyone with a safe environment to rebuild and move forward.

From welcoming young people in family breakdown to supporting LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers, through our solidarity shop, each of our projects addresses a specific need while pursuing a common goal: to offer future prospects.

The Alan Turing House: a refuge to rebuild the future.

The Alan Turing House welcomes LGBTQIA+ young people aged 18 to 25 who are experiencing family breakdown, homelessness, or precarious situations. Located in Brussels, it offers fourteen places in a caring and structured environment, allowing residents to rebuild their lives in safety.

Each young person benefits from personalised support, including psychosocial follow-up, administrative assistance, budget guidance, as well as medical, legal, and educational orientation. An integration programme is carried out to support access to training, employment, and housing, and post-accommodation follow-up ensures a stable transition to independence.

Since 2018, more than 200 young people have been able to find a new start there. Supported by Cocom, the Brussels Region, and numerous partners, the Alan Turing House is much more than a roof: it serves as a springboard towards autonomy, in line with its promise to help young people recover and bounce back.

Zon&Pluie: a supportive and committed shop

Zon&Pluie is much more than a shop: it is a solidarity project that directly supports the actions of le Refuge. Located in Ixelles, at 27 Prince Royal Street, the store offers a selection of second-hand clothing, accessories, and items, combining ethics, style, and social commitment.

Managed exclusively by a team of volunteers, Zon&Pluie enables the funding of accommodation and support for young LGBTQIA+ individuals in precarious situations. We sometimes receive support from external volunteers, who come to lend a hand on occasion.

We also have points of sale in Yuman stores in Saint-Gilles and Etterbeek, making our products accessible to a wider audience and strengthening our solidarity impact.

The CADAL: a refuge for LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers

The CADAL, Reception Centre for LGBTQIA+ Asylum Seekers, offers thirteen places for particularly vulnerable adult queer individuals, whom the federal agency FEDASIL has asked us to accommodate in order to protect them from the discrimination and violence they face in collective centres.

The residents receive specialised support including administrative assistance and legal guidance in their asylum process, access to healthcare, and psychosocial follow-up tailored to the realities of exile, as well as support in their reconstruction, well-being, and integration in Belgium.

This system operates in close collaboration with CIRÉ and other key stakeholders in the asylum sector, in order to ensure comprehensive support that respects the rights and dignity of individuals.

A place of welcome, a new beginning.

"Your mental health matters."

Every day, LGBTQIA+ youth in Belgium face exclusion, rejection, or isolation. For World Mental Health Day, the Refuge is launching the “Your Mental Health Matters” campaign to break the silence and highlight lived realities.

Here you’ll find participatory workshops, the October 8 roundtable, the digital campaign, and practical resources created with and for the young people concerned.

Talking about it is already a step forward.

Our campaign is made possible with the support of the National Lottery and its players, whom we warmly thank.
